Siblings and Service Providers: Allies Together

ANCORThe Sibling Leadership Network (SLN) is working with American Network of Community Options and Resources  (ANCOR) to share the sibling perspective with service providers in their network. ANCOR is a national, nonprofit trade association representing more than 800 private community providers of services to people with disabilities. Combined, they service over 400,000 individuals with disabilities, with the belief that each individual should be offered opportunities to enhance and increase informed decision-making and opportunity for self-determination throughout a spectrum of expanding and continuing choices. Lindsay Hyland,  SibsNY representative  on the Sibling Leadership Network Board, wrote a great article on how much she appreciates her sister’s Direct Support Professional (DSP). Lindsay’s piece demonstrates how families and service providers can work together to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families!
