Finding Support Through the Sibling Leadership Network

Support the Sibling Leadership Network this holiday season! This holiday season, Ed O’Neill, SLN Board Member, reflects on the importance of the SLN:

It was always just the two of us – my sister, Jacqueline, and I – so I knew no other sibling relationship. I had nothing to compare it to; it just was. As we have gotten older, I have become Jacqueline’s guardian, planner, advocate, protector, and coach. But sometimes, I find myself confused, angry, exhausted, and frustrated. Connecting with others in the Sibling Leadership Network has let me know that I am not alone in any of these experiences. It is amazing to have a conversation with someone else that has had a similar childhood growing up as a sibling of an individual with disabilities. It is a relief to know that I am not alone in my struggles and challenges.

For me, finding this solace, this shared experience, and an understanding ear is why I have become so involved in the SLN. I have a network of resources, peers, friends, tools, and information that has made life better for both me and my sister as we continue on our journey. I know that we are in a better place because of what I have found in the SLN. Please show your support for the SLN this holiday season by donating. It will the many siblings and families out there just like me and my sister. Thank you.

If you relate to stories like Ed’s, we invite you to get involved with the SLN and show your support. Donating is easy!

We have created a PayPal giving page which you can access via this page as a quick and easy way to give back:

If you choose to donate online, you have the option to select monthly recurring donations that are tax deductible. A simple monthly contribution of $5, $10 or $20 per month will provide the SLN with ongoing support for the work that we do without having a significant impact on monthly finances. All you have to do is check the box saying “make this recurring.”

We also accept checks made out to the Sibling Leadership Network. Please mail them to our office at:
