A recent article shares findings from a study that “fewer than half of parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities make long-term plans about who will take over their child’s care” in the instance the parent no longer can provide care.
The study’s lead author, Meghan Burke, is SLN’s Research Chair and professor of special education at the University of Illinois. Burke urges parents to begin planning for future care as early as possible. SLN Executive Director, Katie Arnold, is also an author of this study.
