Amy is the older sister to Emily, who has Down Syndrome. This lifelong relationship guided her path in many wonderful ways, including her professional interests. Amy has a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and she is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She has served a Board Member for Supporting Illinois Brothers and Sisters (SIBS) for the past seven years. She is also a trained Sibshop Facilitator and has enjoyed leading Sibshops for young siblings.
Amy recently completed LEND at University of Illinois at Chicago – The Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities Interdisciplinary Training Program. Through this fellowship, she had the opportunity to complete a leadership project with the Sibling Leadership Network. Amy, who lives in the Chicago suburbs with her husband and two children, is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to work with this amazing organization.
According to SLN Exectutive Director Katie Arnold, “This new position is helping build the capacity of the SLN as we continue to grow as an organization. Amy brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role as a sibling, a social worker, and a leader in the Illinois sibling chapter. She understands the experience of siblings and is committed to the mission of the SLN.” We are proud to have Amy as part of the team!
