Research Participation Opportunity: SABE GoVoter Experience Survey for Self Advocates

“Having a disability is not the problem with voting, it is having the accessible equipment, accessible location, and the respect to do so.”  Nancy Ward, Oklahoma People FirstPower of the Disability Vote
Every citizen in the United States has a voice and the right to vote.  The challenge we face is to make voting available and accessible to all citizens.  Many barriers continue to exist that prevent voters with disabilities to exercise their rights.  That’s why SLN is supporting the SABE GoVoter Project in collecting information from voters with disabilities across the United States about their voting experience. We need your help to find out if voting barriers still exist or have improved. Will you help us?
Did your sibling with a disability vote? How did they cast their ballot: mail in, early voting or on Election Day at their polling place?  Did you go with them or help them prepare to vote?  Would you be willing to ask them to tell us how it went? If so, invite them to complete the Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) GoVoter Experience Survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018GoVoterSurvey or email jhuerena@swifamilies.org for a paper copy to complete and mail back.
This survey provides an opportunity for voters with disabilities to self-report on their voting experience.  SABE promises to share their candid and specific responses with election officials who can improve planning and implementation for future elections.
