February Sibposium: Sibling Caregiver Research

The Sibling Leadership Network (SLN) is excited to host a monthly virtual peer support for sibling caregivers of people with disabilities…Sibposiums! Sibposiums will provide a chance for adult siblings to connect with other siblings to receive information and peer support. This 1-hour interactive forum will bring sibling caregivers together from the comfort of their own homes! (This event will not be recorded.)
Sibposium Details:
Date: February 23, 2022
Time: 5pm PT/6pm MT/7pm CT/8pm ET
Cost: Free; registration required by 2/22/22

February’s Sibposium topic is Sibling Caregiver Research. Come learn about the existingΒ research on siblingΒ caregivers and talk to SLN’s Research Committee about what kind of resources you would like to see more of. Are there general or specific topics you would like to learn more about related to sibling caregiving?
Β
This Sibposium will be led byΒ Dana Sciullo, an occupational therapist currently working as Research Associate for the National Down Syndrome Society who has a younger brother with Down syndrome andΒ Mayumi Hagiwara, an assistant professor in the special education department at the San Francisco State University who has a younger sister with Rubinstein–Taybi syndrome.
The Sibling Leadership Network has two research goals:

  • To increase the visibility and accessibility of sibling research
  • To increase awareness about including siblings in research about individuals with disabilities and their families.
Visit the SLN research section to learn more about how we are advancing our goals.
