Announcing: National Siblings Day!

Events, Sibs in the News

Breaking News … National Siblings Day is nearly here!

On Wednesday April 10, we’ll celebrate our brothers and sisters. Why?

  • Because even though they stole the television remote right out from under you, you can’t imagine yourself without them. They changed the channels, it’s true, but they also changed your life.
  • Because who knows you like your siblings? They were there when you went through that awkward phase … and they were probably rocking a retainer and making terrible clothing choices right along with you.
  • Because, as author Haven Kimmel once wrote, “We’re bound to lose [others] … but we should get to keep our siblings to the end.”

In fact, The Sibling Leadership Network celebrates siblings every day.

We exist to help siblings of individuals with disabilities navigate the challenges they face as family members. We help prepare siblings to advocate along with their brothers and sisters, and we promote the issues that are most important to their families.

In other words, we are in your corner.

When you’re not sure what to do about your sibling’s behavior or medication changes or mobility challenges … when you wonder how you can serve as a caregiver … when you’re trying to figure out how to love and accept your brothers and sisters as they are … we’re here.
And because of that, we want to celebrate National Siblings Day with you. We invite you to …

On April 10, visit

The Sibling Leadership Network’s Facebook group

& post a photo of you and your sib!

For extra credit, share a line or two about what you love most about your brother(s) or sister(s).
(The National Siblings Day fairy may or may not leave a treat under your pillow if you do.)

Be sure to pass this announcement along to your friends, family and other siblings you know!
