Tamar Heller, the Sibling Leadership Network’s Representative at the University of Illinois – Chicago, was invited in August to attend the Family Caregiving Advisory Council (FCAC) meeting in Washington, D.C. to provide an overview of important research from the field and present key policy issues for family caregivers. FCAC was established by the Recognize, Assist, Inform, and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act of 2017 to develop strategies for federal initiatives to provide support to family caregivers of older adults and persons with disabilities. Tamar’s presentation covered the topic of “Family Caregiving for People with Disabilities across the Life Course,” during which she spotlighted the SLN.
